The plan: fix it
The bike is really nice quality. Everything is workin, even after 40 years. The only things I needed to fix were the “Guaranteed World Finest Bicycle Precision Mechanism”. My 5 gears and the chain had minor troubles at the start, but I could fix it with a spanner and 5Yen. Worse were things on the road. Every now and then my tires attracted pieces of wire or lost screws. After 600km I had to get a new tire for the rear wheel. It had to carry most of my weight, the pack and tent. The front tire was OK for the whole tour.
I got really talented in fixing tubes after some time. Could do it in less than 5 minutes, without removing the wheel from the bike.
